Thanks for registering - Next steps!

You have officially registered for this year’s Friendship Walk – CONGRATS! Here are some tips to help you get started. The first thing you’ll want to do is customize your personal fundraising page. Let’s get started!

1) Log into your personal fundraising page

Click the “login” link located in the header of the event you are participating in and enter the username and password you chose when you registered.

2) Set a fundraising goal

Step 2 graphic

Next, enter in the fundraising goal you are aiming to raise. Choose a goal that is attainable. Remember, $50 gets you a Friendship Walk t-shirt and incentive levels are at $250, $500, $750, $1,000 and $1,500.

3) Make it personal

step 3 graphic

Upload a photo of yourself and possibly one that shows why you are walking and fundraising for Best Buddies. Next, share a story about your participation in the Friendship Walk and what Best Buddies means to you.

4) Kick things off

step 4 graphic

Get your fundraising page started with a donation of your own. It is not mandatory to do so, but it does help get things started. It also shows your personal vested interest in the cause and your efforts.

A Message from Anthony Kennedy Shriver

Here’s how it works:

1) Create a 30-60 second “commercial” featuring how your Best Buddies chapter empowers inclusion at your school! Here’s what your video should include:

a. The name and location of your school
b. How Best Buddies has impacted your school and community
c. Why empowering others is important to your chapter

2) Submit your video HERE and/or share it on social media using the hashtag #EmpowerInclusion by Thursday, March 10th!

Voting will take place on the Friendship Walk YouTube channel. The winning chapter members will receive custom Friendship Walk T-Shirts as well as a virtual meet & greet with Best Buddies CEO and Founder, Anthony Kennedy Shriver.

Challenge Timeline

March 10th at midnight EST: Deadline to submit your #EmpowerInclusion video.
March 14th: Voting begins on the Friendship Walk YouTube page
March 17th at 3pm EST.: Voting ends and the winner is announced on Friendship Walk social media accounts.

Tips for your video:

Have fun! This is a chance to really let the personality of your chapter shine.

Use what you have. Videos do not need to be filmed using fancy/expensive equipment, using your smartphone will be perfect. (Tiktok, Window Movie Editor, iMovie, etc…)

Film in one location or many! You can use one video or create a mashup of several videos – the sky’s the limit.

FAQ (Fall Virtual Walks)

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Friendship Walk still happening in 2020?
Yes! The Best Buddies Friendship Walk is simply going VIRTUAL!
What is a Virtual Walk?
The Best Buddies Virtual Friendship Walk is a chance for you and your closest friends, family and co-workers to join us online as we celebrate our fundraising efforts to sustain and grow our programs locally.
How can I get involved with the Virtual Walk?
Anyone, from any part of the U.S. (or world for that fact) can join us as we virtually walk for the Best Buddies mission. Register for a walk in your area and create your fundraising page. Our goal is to raise money so we sustain the current programs we offer in the local area – and expand our programs to create a better world for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Is the Friendship Walk T-shirt available for purchase?
The official Best Buddies Friendship Walk T-shirt is a badge of honor, so to speak, and is only given in recognition to walkers that raise $50 or more. (And how awesome would that be if EVERY registered walker earned one?  Let’s make that happen!)
I made a $50 donation to my child’s fundraising page – will I get a T-shirt?
Thank you! Your donation will count towards your child’s fundraising total so he/she will be the one who earns the T-shirt.  (But maybe your generosity will earn you Parent-of-the-Year!)
I would like to learn about sponsorship opportunities. How do I get in touch with someone?
Great, thanks for the interest! Please contact us at the bottom of our homepage here.
